Mathfest highlights 2021 Gawad Sipnayan
To celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the Mathematics department for School Year 2020-2021, the annual Mathematics Festival concluded with the 2021 Gawad Sipnayan: Isang Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon sa mga Programang Pang-Sipnayan.
The program aimed at giving recognition and appreciation to Mandaluyong Mathematics teachers and officials in the implementation of the various projects of the division.
Dr. Alyn G. Mendoza, Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) chief, commended the Math teachers headed by Mr. Restituto I. Rodelas, education program supervisor, and affirmed how holistic the department programs are, making them unique and commendable.
“We want to give them the functional learning that we can offer…for them to be more inspired regardless of everything that happens in our environment, still we want them to be our priority,” Dr. Mendoza emphasized about the significance of the projects.
The 2021 Gawad Sipnayan awardees include the module writers for CLAID Learning Materials, module validators, LR Technical Working Group, Project Series of Online Academic Reviews of Math CLAID Learning Modules (SOAR) lecturers and moderators, Broadcast Instruction Program (BIP)- Mathematics content creators of video lessons, Mathematics Coordinators, School Principals, and SDO Officials.
Plaques of Appreciation were given to Mr. Roderick R. Mendiola, principal, City of Mandaluyong Science High School (CMSHS) in hosting the Dream and Dream Plus Projects (July 27- December 15, 2019), Dr. Imelda O. Garcia, principal, Pedro P. Cruz Elementary School (PPCES) and Mr. Henry A. Sabidong, principal, Mataas na Paaralang Neptali A. Gonzales (MPNAG) in hosting the Mathematics Festival.
Meanwhile, Mr. Reynaldo C. Collado Jr., Mathematics teacher of Highway Hills Integrated School (HHIS), was awarded a Plaque of Recognition as Overall Chair of Series of Online Academic Review (SOAR), Amplifying Development of Assessment on Performance Task Skills (ADAPTS) and Writing Researches and Academic Papers (WRAP) Projects of the Schools Division Office, CID.
Prior to this undertaking is a month-long celebration joined by grade one to 12 students and select teachers in different categories – Tessellation, Rubik’s Cube, Poster Making, Math Quiz Bee, Slogan Making, Math Tiktok and Math Jingle Contest (Teacher’s Edition) held virtually.
To acknowledge the efforts and competence of learners and teacher-participants who emerged on top spots, an awarding ceremony was also conducted.
Themed Making Mathematics Engaging in the New Normal, Mr. Henry A. Sabidong, Principal III of MPNAG, stressed that Math in the new normal becomes bigger and brighter.
“We’ve just given the students a chance and realization to channel their youth and energy into something useful,” he stated.
Overall, Hulo Integrated School (HIS) led by Dr. Nimfa A. Matabang and Mandaluyong High School (MHS ) headed by Dr, Ervin A. Salazar were declared champions in the elementary and secondary levels, respectively.
