PPCES advocates online safety for learners

PREPARING learners to make smart decisions, Pedro P. Cruz Elementary School (PPCES) carried out the objectives of the Schools Division of Mandaluyong’s Be Internet Awesome (BIA) program implementation.
The school was able to organize two online classes composed of 74 learners from Grade 4 and 5 via Google Meet.
Teacher-implementers underwent a series of orientation and meetings with Mr. John Darryll S. Mercado, division information technology officer, on the integration of BIA curriculum to be integrated in subject areas such as Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, Araling Panlipunan, English, Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP) and Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE).

The curriculum, anchored by five pillars of digital safety: Smart, Alert, Strong, Kind and Brave, is consists of five lessons namely: Lesson 1: Share to Care, Lesson 2: Don’t Fall for Fake, Lesson 3: Secure Your Secrets, Lesson 4: It’s Cool to be Kind, and Lesson 5: When in Doubt, Talk It Out.
Learners, under the program, are expected to learn and understand the fundamentals of digital citizenship and safety so that they will have the confidence to explore the online world.
