Altamirano: From Scholar to Building Connections Across the Philippines
KRISSIA Jane R. Altamirano, a beneficiary of the Neptali A. Gonzales Scholarship Foundation, shared her experiences as a scholar, providing for her family and giving them a better life in spite of all odds.
Through the program, she was able to allow her father to retire at the age of 48, while taking care of her mother and sister, both who suffered from severe illness and have had been taking their maintenance medications, taking the initiative to become a working student.
Altamirano encouraged her fellow scholars to persevere and to always remember your humble beginnings through reminding yourself of your purpose and ambitions, “Bakit ba ako nagaaral?”, motivating them to become life long learners and to continue to be grateful despite life’s challenges.
Moreover, the engineer underscored the significance of having dreams as it drives oneself to strive to study hard and wake up each day for nothing is impossible.
Meanwhile, Altamirano graduated in Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering and now works at PLDT where she helps PLDT clients and their families through technical support, connecting families like hers.
