Teamwork Triumphs: Hillsiders’ staff leads games for a cause

The competitive spirit was alive and well at Addition Hills Integrated School (AHIS) this Sunday, but the prize wasn’t a trophy—it was the joy of recovery.

Highway Hills Integrated School (HHIS) successfully integrated a sports and recreation segment into their “Oplan RISE” initiative benefiting 169 fire-affected students, Feb.  1.

The Hillsiders editorial staff, usually seen covering campus events, took center stage as game masters. They facilitated a lineup of interactive recreational games aimed at boosting the morale of the learners who lost their homes in the January 19 fire.

The segment served as a dynamic icebreaker before the distribution of relief goods. It allowed the SPJ learners and the AHIS beneficiaries to bond, breaking down the barrier between “donor” and “recipient” and replacing it with the camaraderie of play.

“This activity is aligned with our objective to secure a learner-centered environment and foster the spirit of ‘Bayanihan’,” Eugenie Grace San Antonio, Hillsiders’ Editor-in-chief said.

The energy on the ground proved that sports and recreation are vital tools for psychosocial support. Through cheering, running, and strategizing, the learners were able to channel their energy positively, proving that #TEAMANDA’s “Tender Love and Care” extends to physical wellness and fun.
